Business Support Administrator - Finance

This role involves administering the operational support processes of our accountancy practice in Exeter. You'll need excellent administrative skills to manage a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, ensuring the smooth running of our practice. With an office move on the horizon and significant growth planned, it's an exciting time to join our team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately record, balance and reconcile all business transactions on the chosen accounting software (Xero – training provided).
  • Assist with credit control, including communicating with clients to recover aged debt.
  • Effectively manage deadlines for inputting of data and client money reconciliations, providing timely feedback and updates.
  • Assist with maintaining and reconciling bank accounts and ledgers for the business.
  • Prepare statements and reports as requested.
  • Raise bills and chase unbilled work.
  • Set up monthly supplier payment run.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding clients.
  • Prepare and send client correspondence, including letters of engagement and mailshots.
  • Answer the telephone, screening and transferring calls.
  • Provide occasional reception cover, where required.
  • Assist the Business Support Manager in all aspects of the operations of the firm.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Solid organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of competence with a variety of systems and software, including accounting packages and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately to multiple, changing deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within an accountancy or financial services environment.
  • Familiarity with office management procedures and basic accounting principles.
  • A relevant qualification in business administration or a related field would be advantageous.
