Assistant Accountant
- Burnley
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing accountancy and business advisory firm as an Assistant Accountant. At Streets our goal is to become a top 20 UK practice through a strategy of organic growth, alongside targeted mergers and acquisitions.
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Officer, the suitable candidate will gain extensive exposure across the finance function with hands on learning and development opportunities to grow within the role. This position is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate and will suit someone who is looking to grow professionally alongside the business, and who has the drive to fully engage with the energetic and fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Accounts:Â assisting the Management Accountant with all aspects of the preparation to draft stage of the quarterly management accounts. The management accounts will be moving from quarterly to monthly as we move into our new financial year in April 2025 and this role will be critical to achieving the increased reporting cadence. This will also involve preparation of cost centre reports for review by the Management Accountant.
- Intercompany: assist with intercompany reconciliations and processing, ensuring that contra entries are all reconciled. Streets has a complex group structure with over 30 entities, that are a mix of corporates, LLPs and partnerships and so management of intercompany transactions is extremely important to aid with group consolidation.
- Preparation of Workpapers:Â prepare workpapers to support the management accounts information, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. This will be a critical aspect of the role to add value to the reporting to the leadership team and maintain and enhance financial controls.
- Payroll Posting and Reconciliation:Â posting the relevant entries to individual entities for the group payroll recharges. Payroll is run through a centralised payroll which is then recharged to trading entities where the payroll needs to be posted to the appropriate nominal codes and reconciled back to the group report.Â
- Assist with Integration of Acquired Firms: a key driver of Streets’ growth strategy is to grow through acquisition, with 10 acquisitions/mergers being completed in the past 2 years. You will play an important role in bringing on the new acquisitions and integrating them into the central finance function, ensuring policies and reporting are aligned.Â
- Budgeting and Forecasting:Â you will be required to assist with the preparation of annual budgets and ongoing forecasts of overhead costs and have a keen eye for seeking out efficiency gains from both streamlining costs and consolidation of supply.
- Other Finance Responsibilities: the organisation is a dynamic and fast paced place to work, with the central finance team cast in this same mould and so there will be other impromptu and project based responsibilities arising on a regular basis that you will be required to contribute to.                                                                                  Â
