Streets Myton Mulholland Tax Advisory LLP, our City of London specialist tax boutique, is delighted to announce the appointment of its latest Private Client Tax Partner, Tajinder Bhalla.

Tajinder joins Streets as a qualified Barrister, having pursued his tax career with a number of the ‘Big firms’ as well as having industry experience with GlaxoSmithKline. He spent 12 years there as a Tax Director advising on direct UK & International Tax and indirect taxes, including VAT & customs duty.

In his new role with Streets, Tajinder will be a key member of a growing number of partners and senior team members forming the niche tax offering that is based in the firm’s office located at St Paul’s. A team that not only looks after the needs of existing clients, both nationally and internationally, but also those clients looking for specialist advice and support. In particular he will lead on the provision of private client tax work in London.

Tajinder has extensive experience in assisting individuals and companies in planning and mitigating tax within the confines of the statutory reliefs available. He also advises clients on tax litigation from issues arising on HMRC Tax Enquiries to instructing Counsel to appear on behalf of clients at Tribunal. More recently, he has been acting for clients facing COP8 and COP9 investigations.

Commenting on his new role, Tajinder said: “I am delighted to be joining Streets to provide a much broader private client tax service especially advising upon property taxes including Stamp Duty Land Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax whether that be for High Net worth Individuals, owner managed businesses or small and medium sized enterprises. I very much look forward to offering clients the full range of services that the firm has to offer and to harness the enormous talent within the firm to constantly deliver value for clients well beyond just the numbers.”

When asked what Tajinder’s appointment means to Streets, Paul Tutin, Chairman and Managing Partner, said: “Just over a year ago we embarked on creating a new, standalone tax boutique to complement our more general tax advisory work. We took the decision to base this in central London as part of the firm’s wider expansion but also to be able to respond to the needs of businesses and individuals looking for advice nationally and internationally. This has proven to be a sound move, with the initial provision focusing on specialist advisory services relating to indirect tax, specifically VAT and customs, as well as international tax with a focus on technology, investment and property.

“Since building on this success and recognising the need to augment our private client tax advice, we have been exceptionally fortunate in attracting Tajinder who is a highly proficient and skilled tax professional. We believe he will be a real asset to the business and the needs of our clients and a key member of a highly specialised, but commercially driven team. Tajinder’s appointment is one of a number of key ones we have made recently, with further key appointments envisaged over the next 12 months as we seek to develop our tax boutique.”
